如果記憶不是由照片、敘述去追憶,而是由肉身操作去實踐時,會發生什麼樣的結果?於是我重返了有過七年工 作經驗的醫院檢驗室,並執行記憶中的行為。在這七天的工作裡,我發現這佔著同一空間的現存,便與非空間的過去整體產生混雜的變化,在記憶的操作中,過程除了增加了記憶的密度,但也充滿了否定與再製(Re-maked)。

在華山的烏梅酒場、在高雄的橋頭糖廠,我努力的再製工作場景,包括實際工作中的操作影片、物件、甚至培養出來活的酵母菌培養皿、顯微鏡下酵母菌的樣態。在這兩個原本就充滿場所記憶的空間裡,我雖然努力的再製另一個私域記憶空間,但它終究只是一個紀念物,因記憶的提取是一個有創造性的建構歷程,而記憶的過渡,就有如一漂浮的虛構物(fagulation)。


What would the result be if memories were not recaptured from photographs or spoken accounts, but rather realized through physical manipulation?I have used this work to recollect my seven years spent working in a hospital examination room, and to implement memory actions. I have discovered changes in this seven-day work that occupy the same space, and are mixed with the non-spatial past. Apart from increasing memory density, the memory operations are also full of denial and remaking.

At the Wu Mei Wine Plant in the Huashan District and at the Kio-A-Thau Sugar Factory in Kaohsiung, I exerted myself to remake the work spaces, including the videos of actual work, the objects, and even the yeast culture vessels and the shape of the yeast cells under the microscope. These two spaces were originally full of institutional memories, and although I worked hard to remake them as other, private, memory spaces, they are ultimately still commemorative objects. Because the extraction of memories is a creative, constructive process, the transition between memories is like a drifting confabulation.
